LA UNION POLICE PRESENT ABOUT 231 LOOSE FIREARMS

CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union –The La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO) here led by Director PCol. Jonathan G. Calixto, and La Union Election Supervisor Atty. Joel Gines presented the total of 231 loose firearms in this camp during the implementation of election gun ban on Thursday (Jan. 13, 2022).
Based on the record, the 231 total loose firearms was consisted to 90 deposited firearms, 6 confiscated, while others 99 are being surrendered, all throughout the 20 municipalities and a city, including forensic group of La Union.
All these are composed of high-powered, low-powered, and replicas.
The entire police force implemented the gun ban from January 9 to June 8, 2022 as part of the security plan for this year’s national and local elections.
Recently several police checkpoints operations in strategic locations here are being conducted nationwide to confiscate carrying firearms by unauthorized individuals.
Meanwhile according to Gines, two declared election hot spot that includes Agoo town and Balaoan town due to recorded killings during election period.
