BAGUIO CITY (August 20, 2021) – Responders retrieved a lifeless body of a laborer stucked between boulders in the shallow part of the Bangao River in Bangao, Ambuklao, Bokod, Benguet at around 5:30 PM Thursday.
Members of the Bokod Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Bokod, civilian volunteers and Bokod policemen went to the site after a concerned citizen phone called the police. The caller told the police that someone saw a body at the river.
The victim was identified as Rico Bayawoc, 30, native of Tinglayan, Kalinga presently employed as laborer of a construction firm at Moatong, Poblacion, Bokod, Benguet.
He was positively identified by his co-worker.
The cadaver was brought to the Bokod Municipal Health Office.
Authorities suspect that Bayawoc was swept by the strong river current and drowned.
