Man stabs drinking buddy in Ilocos Sur over suspicion of an illicit romance with victim’s live-in partner

BAGUIO CITY (August 10, 2021) —  A man stabbed his drinking buddy prompted by a suspicion of an illicit romance with the victim’s live-in partner at around 4:15AM Tuesday (August 10, 2021) in Barangay Baliw Laud, Sta. Maria town in Ilocos Sur.
The victim was identified as Mark Lester Racca Quintana, 24, and a resident of Barangay Baliw Daya, Sta. Maria. The suspect was identified as Jake Rabinol Lucendo, 37, single, a native of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur but currently renting a house at Barangay Baliw Laud, Sta. Maria.
Based on the initial investigation by the police,  the suspect and the victim were having a drinking session.  Quitania eventually had a verbal tussle that went physical with his live-in partner suspecting that they have an illicit romance with the suspect.
Lucendo intervened, punched Quintana on the face then drew a knife and stabbed Quitania twice on his left rib section.
Quitania was able to seek help from the Sta. Maria Police who rushed him to the Ilocos Sur District Hospital (ISDH) in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur. Lucendo and the victim’s live-in partner also underwent medical treatment.
Lucendo is now under police custody while awaiting for frustrated homicide charges to be filed by Quitania.
