Moles Volunteering Drug Traders In Baguio’s Illegal Drugs Purge’

BAGUIO CITY (September 24, 2020) – Informants are now volunteering essential tips on drug traders amid the intensifying illegal drugs purge in Baguio City, authorities said, after another shabu trader masquerading as highland vegetable businessman sold 2.5 grams of shabu Wednesday afternoon here.

“They are falling one by one with the invaluable help of informants who know their illegal business so well,” National Bureau of Investigation-Cordillera Administrative Region (NBI-CAR) Intelligence Section chief, Supervising Agent Lorenzo Lab-as, who led the joint NBI-PDEA-Baguio police sting operation at around 4:20PM beside the Cooyesan Mall along Naguillan Road in San Luis barangay here, cornering 52-year old Romel Yanis Baucas.

Baucas, who earlier sold less than a gram of shabu during a “test-buy” surveillance operation caught on video Tuesday afternoon, did not resist arrest when agents supervised on the ground by lawyer Paul Moises, NBI-CAR Executive Officer, swooped down on him, as he handed the shabu to the informant after taking the P10,000.00 payment inside his Toyota Grandia van.

The van, impounded temporarily by the NBI-CAR as evidence, will be turned over to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) after traffic law enforcement operatives found that the vehicle had a counterfeit plate.

Baucas, added Intelligence Agent 1 Rainier Tinong, PDEA-Baguio City Officer, is a newly-discovered drug trader distributing shabu in Baguio City and nearby La Trinidad, Benguet.

“We are constantly receiving information from Baguio residents and were are validating them in dispatch to finally drive the nail and stump out illegal drugs in the city and the Cordillera region,” bared NBI Intelligence Officer Bonifacio Salingbay.

Only on Tuesday, big-time drug trader–  Joseph Ringor– also supplying shabu in retail to street peddlers, was caught by drug enforcement unit operatives according to Baguio City director Col. Allen Rae Co.

Ringor, who also used Joseph Amisola as his pseudonym while also using other various aliases like “Vamous” and “Epoy”, sold .5 grams of shabu worth P5,000 to a government informant at around 3:53PM infront of a house in East Quirino Hill barangay here.  That house is allegedly also being used as a drug den.

Ringor, living at New Lucban barangay, had numerous “runners” selling shabu in retail for him in various barangays in the city.

Thursday last week, notorious shabu den operator– Victor Alec Sales Leal, 41, —  who like Baucas and Ringor supplies street pushers in retail, also fell in a heart-pounding sting operation by NBI and PDEA agents at the heart of Baguio’s central business district.

Leal, alias “Tisoy”, was cornered at his family’s compound, which he had converted into a drug den and drug retail store along Lower Magsaysay barangay here.

“A lady already wanting to abandon the illegal trade to start anew, surrendered and agreed to bust Leal, prompting a sting operation where she snared her supplier to sell her 5 grams of shabu,” Lawyer Noel Morales of the NBI-Cordillera who led the dragnet operation said.

Though government agents only found at least .2 grams of shabu from Leal, which he sold to the lady pusher-turned-government informant, a glass tooter and several butane lighters used at the drug den was also seized.
