More biz expected to open in Tabuk, more jobs to be created

More business means more jobs for Tabuk folks including graduating students. This was the assurance of Tabuk mayor Darwin Estranero this week as thousands of jobs are expected to be created soon as more businesses are set to rise in the Kalinga capital including the Bulanao public market.
“The government is not capable of getting you all. That is why we are calling these private businesses here so we can have a place to work,” he told students during the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) orientation on Thursday.
He said this after seeing a big number of new graduates who flocked to the city hall seeking jobs due to the scarcity of employment in the private sector.
The SPES is a program to help poor but deserving students and out-of-school youth by providing them employment and income that can be used for their education.
The 20-day program will beneficiaries to work in government offices and get paid by the city government and the Department of Labor and Employment.
The recent SPES batch has 478 SPES beneficiaries of which 140 will be paid entirely by the city government, Loyda Saboy, the city’s Public Employment Services manager.
Estranero said that despite the government’s best efforts, job prospects are simply not enough. Once completed, the Bulanao public market will provide 1,000 jobs with its plan to open a call center.
Moreover, additional jobs will be created as franchises and retailers will be opened within the said community wall.
He said that it is expected that more businesses are expected to come in to follow the Bulanao public market developer once it is completed and operational, among them SM and Robinsons.
Recently, the Talavera Hypermart branch in Tabuk opened. The city is expected to have a new town center with the construction of Primark Town Center by the LKY Group, one of the country’s leading property developers.
