Motorcycle backrider dies in La Union mishap

BAGUIO CITY (June 29, 2021)—  A motorcycle backrider was declared dead-on-arrival at the hospital after being hit by a car along the National Highway in Barangay Taboc, San Juan, La Union at around 7:50 Monday night.
The fatality was identified as Ricardo Abad, 38, while the motorcycle driver was identified as Edwin Abad. Both are residents of Brgy. Talogtog, San Juan.
Based on the investigation of the San Juan police, the motorcycle was heading South when another vehicle suddenly appeared heading West. The motorcycle driver avoided the vehicle but lost control and tumbled at the middle of the highway throwing both Abad and Subido.  A fast approaching car hit Abad.
The driver of the car was identified as Vincent John Subido, 18, a resident of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur. He was going home when the accident happened.
The two were rushed to the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center in San Fernando City, La Union but the backrider did not make it to the hospital because of fatal injuries.   The driver is recuperating from his wounds.
The two victims,  the police said, were supposed to buy dinner prior to the accident.
