BAGUIO CITY – The city jail male dormitory is inviting all interested government agencies, service providers, media practitioners and nongovernment organizations to witness a special event that will showcase the exceptional talents of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
The Mr. and Miss Gay Baguio City Jail Pageant will be held at the City Jail’s quadrangle on October 19, 2018, from 11am to 3pm.
The said event is in line with the observation of the National Correctional Consciousness Week. Under Proclamation 551 series of 1995, the last week of October is declared as “National Correctional Consciousness Week” (NACOCOW) which is designed to create public awareness on the programs of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. It aims to prepare PDLs on their eventual resocialization and reintegration into society as productive and law abiding citizens.
NACOCOW is a time for PDLs to have fun inside jail facilities through different activities which spans throughout the month of October such as sports fest, cultural and musical contests, indigenous games, beauty pageants, medical outreach, legal assistance and other activities which uplift the morale of PDLs.
