Namaskar: Yoga and healing arts festival

Opinion You and Me

The first annual Namaskar Yoga and Healing Arts Festival is organized by Heaven’s Touch Events and co-presented by Baguio Country Club in consonance with the Department of Tourism’s Rev-Bloom campaign that is poised to make Metro-BLISTT a health tourism center and haven for health and wellness.

It is the first festival of its kind in the country, set in the mountains of Baguio in the weekend of June 24 & 25, 2017. Its objective is to inspire individuals to attune to nature and harmonize with the self through the practice of yoga and other bio-energy arts, to elevate consciousness and conscientiousness to individuals in building meaningful connections with nature, with humanity, and with the divinity within and to promote Baguio City as a health and wellness destination thru an annual or potentially bi-annual festival.

The Namaskar gesture or Anjali Mudra is a salutation that has been used for thousands of years to give reverence to the indwelling divinity or soul within each of us. Although coined differently, its essence and significance is seen across cultures and spiritual paths. It can be a reminder for us to keep an inner attitude of peace and bring balance, love & harmony- physically, mentally and emotionally within ourselves.

Festival activities include Yoga Sessions of various lineage (Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Kids, Pre-natal, Kundalini, Purna, Iyengar, Structural Yoga Therapy, etc), healing arts (Reika, Pranic Healing, Zen Meditation, etc.) , workshops ( benefits of crystals & semiprecious stones, aromatherapy, healing dance, go vegetarian, etc.) with the invited speakers and teachers from Baguio and other parts of the country. There will be merchant booths, acoustic folk music, indigenous tribal features of handicrafts, textiles, etc.

Tickets are inclusive of buffet lunch and PM snacks prepared by Baguio Country Club. Ticket prices are as follow:
– 1 day pass – P1600
– Weekend pass – P3000
– Student 1 day pass – P350 (not inclusive of buffet but will be allowed to dine at the BCC canteen or bring their own meals.

Venue is at Baguio Country Club Infinity Gardens. In case of rain, Multi Purpose Hall and Ballroom can be used. The organizers of this event have pledged a percentage of the earnings for the benefit of the orphans of DSWD-RSCC Wangal, La Trinidad.
