NBI denies involvement in Benguet power leadership row

BAGUIO CITY CITY (October 21, 2021) –  The National Bureau of Investigation-Cordillera denied Thursday any involvement in the Monday morning’s take-over of the Benguet Electric Cooperative’s central headquarters along Southdrive here.
Lawyer Hector Eduard Geologo, regional director of the NBI-Cordillera in his official response to the Benguet provincial board and Baguio City council’s summons for the NBI to explain its involvement in the alleged forceful take-over of the police deputized by the National Electrification Administration said, they “have neither no iota of involvement/participation nor knowledge or whatsoever donnybrook that happened at Beneco headquarters on the early morning of October 18, 2021.”
Both the Benguet provincial board and Baguio City council have asked NBI-CAR to explain its alleged presence in the take-over, assailed by partisan groups as oppressive and an overkill.
But Atty. Geologo belied accusations of NBI agents’ involvement insisting, “this command shuns in participating in any matter without official directive from our central headquarters or from the Department of Justice.”
The Bureau, lawyer Geologo said, “since inception had always and forever maintain its apolitical and impartial stand in any or all controversy  so as not to frustrate the ends of justice.”
