NIA BENGUET COMPLETES IRRIGATION SYSTEM FOR HIGH VALUE CROPS IN KIBUNGAN

Production of high value crops in this town has been strengthened with the completion of pump irrigation system, benefitting dozens of farmers. Godofrefo Velaque, National Irrigation Admininistration-Benguet satellite manager said the new irrigation facility Sagpat Pump Irrigation System (PIS) cover three hectares and is located in Barangay Sagpat. The irrigation system will soon be turned over to the Talipey Sapdaan Sagpat Farmers and Irrigators
Association Inc. for operation and maintenance.

The new irrigation facility is funded under NIA-CAR’s repair of groundwater pump irrigation system 2024.
Among the major facilities completed include two reservoir tanks, one intake tank, one pump house and pump set, 3,240 meters of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipeline, and 720 meters of GI pipes, the NIA CAR report states.
The irrigation system will soon be turned over to the Talipey Sapdaan Sagpat Farmers and Irrigators Association Inc.
for operation and maintenance. Meanwhile, in Ifugao, Hapid Irrigation System in this municipality haas started water delivery for the wet crop season. Hapid IS is set to irrigate 1,749 hectares this wet crop season.
