NIA:175 IRRIGATION PROJECTS COMPLETED CY 2024; 15,728 FARMERS BENEFITTED

Some 175 irrigation projects were completed as of Oct. 31 (2024) and it benefitted a total of 15,728 farmers, according to National Irrigation Administration Cordillera (NIA-CAR). Based on the Status of Project Implementation Calendar Year (CY) 2024 – Actual Accomplishment to date submitted to NIA-CAR Regional Manager Engr. Benito Espique, Jr., some 564.70 hectares of new areas were developed and restored 2,052.87 hectares for a total of 2,617.57 hectares.

Also some 38.26 kilometers (KM) of canal lining and 37.96 pipeline were either repaired and rehabilitated. And some 15,226 jobs were generated. Summary Per Province of completed irrigation projects – Abra 15; Apayao 17; Benguet 41; Ifugao 36; Kalinga 24 and Mt. Province 42 for a total o 175 projects. These project includes – Repair and Restoration of Communal and National Irrigation Systems (CIS/NIS); Small Impounding Project (SIP); Establishment of Groundwater Pump Irrigation Systems -Solar (EGPIP), given among others. For 2024, NIA-CAR has a total allocation of P3.518,950.84 billion a significant increase from its P1.654,599.73 billion last year (2023).
