As a result of the continuous efforts to eradicate illegal drug trade in the region, the Police Regional Office Cordillera
Administrative Region (PRO-CAR) conducted a series of anti-illegal drug operations that resulted in the seizure of a total of PhP1,778,800.00 worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of two high-value drug personalities in the province of Benguet and the City of Baguio on October 22, 2024.
In Benguet, three plantation sites planted with 6,650 pieces of Fully Grown Marijuana Plants with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP1,330,000.00, were discovered by joint operatives from the different units of Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO), Regional Intelligence Unit-14 (RIU14), Regional Intelligence Division of PRO-CAR, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera Administrative Region (PDEA-CAR) in Brgy. Tacadang, Kibungan.
All discovered marijuana plants were documented, uprooted, and burned on-site, while enough samples were taken for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit-CAR.
Moreover, two drug personalities identified as a 37-year-old female and a 35-year-old male, both listed as High Value Individuals, were arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by the joint operating units of the different units of Baguio City Police Office, PDEA-CAR, Benguet PPO, RIU14, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 in Brgy. San Vicente, Baguio City. During the operation, the operatives confiscated 24 sachets of suspected shabu weighing
approximately 66.0 kilograms with an SDP of PhP448,800.00 from the suspects.
Subsequently, all seized pieces of evidence were inventoried on-site in the presence of the suspects and witnessed by the DOJ representative, Mr. Ronald C. Arciaga, the media representative, Mr. Darius N. Bajo and the Barangay Kagawad of San Vicente, Mr. Bibiano W. Lipiano. The arrested suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were taken into the custody of PDEA-CAR for documentation and proper disposition. The suspects will be facing charges for violation of R.A. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
