OVER P28-M INITIAL WORTH OF DAMAGES IN AGRICULTURE IN PANGASINAN

Pangasinan Governor Ramon Guico III said an initial P28.590 million worth of agriculture were damaged in his
province by typhoon Kristine, while a total of P110,800,000.00 worth of infrastructure were devastated. “What is important though is the people’s safety (during these kinds of disasters),” Guico III said as he led the distribution of aid to evacuees in different towns in the province. Figures on damages on agriculture and infrastructure could still swell as additional reports are still coming from other towns in the province, said Pangasinan provincial information officer Dhobbie de Guzman.

Pangasinan’s disaster officials reported that 1,300 families were brought safety, either in evacuation centers around the province or had taken refuge with their relatives’ homes as flooding were reported in at least 51 barangays in 10 towns and storm surges in 33 barangays in two cities and 7 towns. Eight barangay road systems and a bridge were shut down from vehicular traffic, officials added. Initial figures also showed that 42 houses were reported either partially or totally damaged. Gov. Guico III assured Pangasinenses, “ginagawa po natin lahat upang tayong maging
ligtas at malusog.” He urged evacuees not to return to their homes yet until declared by the provincial disaster officials it is already safe to do so.
