Over P55M MJ Torched In Benguet, Kalinga Provinces

BAGUIO CITY(May 21, 2021) — Another P55.5M worth of marijuana were destroyed in separate marijuana eradication operations by Cordillera policemen and PDEA operatives of in Benguet and Kalinga from May 17-20, 2021.
Cordillera police director Brig. General Ronald Lee said intensified anti-illegal drug clearing operations overran five plantation sites in Benguet and seven in Kalinga. 
A total of 8,650 fully grown marijuana plants (FGMP) valued at P1,730,000.00 was discovered in an estimated 1,100 square meters in a communal land at Sitio Dalipey, Tacadang, Benguet.
While Kalinga police together with the 1403rd Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) destroyed P53,780,000.00 worth of marijuana in Barangay Butbut Proper, Tinglayan, Kalinga only last Thursday.
Seven marijuana plantations with 270,000 fully grown plants with a total land area of 36,600 square meters. 
No cultivator was caught during the two-day anti-marijuana operations.
Lee vowed continued marijuana plantation eradication operations dreaming to totally end the illegal cultivation and sale of marijuana, that according to authorities have continued despite the restrictions due to the COVID19 pandemic.
