P1M reward hoisted for tips on slain Isabela deputy prosecutor’s killers

BAGUIO CITY (August 27, 2021) — A P1 million reward was hoisted by the family of slain Ilagan City, Isabela deputy prosecutor Victor Begtang Jr. to whoever could give valuable information that could lead authorities into catching his killers.
Via his social media page, Justin Begtang announced the family’s decision to offer a reward on the identification of two gunmen traced by authorities to have approached Deputy Pros. Begtang Jr. on June 23, 2021 right at his auto repair shop at sitio Hanhan, Barangay Malama, Conner, Apayao, and pumped bullets killing him instantly.
Police said the prosecutor even saw one of his killers pointing a gun at him, prompting him to alert his companions who reportedly scampered to different directions.
Begtang Jr. even ran towards his house to seek refuge, but was met by the second gunman.
The gunmen immediately fled on board a getaway motorcycle after making sure the deputy prosecutor was dead.
Begtang Jr. though rushed to the hospital but was declared dead-on-arrival.
