Renewal, reflection and reconnection marked the 27th local celebration of Chinese Lunar New Year in the Summer Capital. Peter Ng, President of the Baguio Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Chairperson of this year’s
festival, spelled out during Wednesday’s (Jan. 22) Media Fellowship held at Titanium Hall of the multi-million and newly built Hotel Supreme Mall & Events Center along Magsaysay Avenue here. Several local practicing
journalists from print and broadcast media organizations, and guests attended the event amid chilly weather.

Ng, owner an proprietor of the facility also stressed that the celebration is a collaboration with the community. It strengthened the bond among families and friends, closer ties among Filipino Chinese and Filipinos en-route to prosperity. “Our shared history and culture became stronger and dynamic. It deepen mutual understanding and promote unity,” said Ng. In fact, decades, Filipino-Chinese and their descendants contributed in the growth and
development of the city like in trading, agriculture , food, hotel and restaurant, among others.

Ng, also a respected official of the decades-old Baguio Chinese Patriotic School, a former taxi driver, turned businessman, added that festival shall bring hope and joy to each individual andf the community as a whole. On the part of the city, Mayor Benjamin Magalong, represented by Councilor Isabela ‘ Popo’ Cosalan, Jr. emphasized the long standing tradition , emphasizing unity and cooperation.

Feng Shui insights and forecast were also presented by Master Adriel Jose-Angelo Trinidad, accredited Fen Shui Master ( International Feng Shui Association (IFSA) and Chiara Trinidad-Datu of Crystal Lady Feng Shui and Destiny Consultant. Meanwhile, barangay gift sharing (Jan. 24), Spring Festival Little Chinatown (Jan.26) in Session Road will be held. A grand colorful parade is set on Jan. 30 (Thursday) followed by a Dinner Awards Night to be held at Hotel Supreme.
