SAN FERNANDO, La Union
The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), under the leadership of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica
“Rafy” Ortega-David, vies for this year’s Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) as the regional assessment was conducted last June 21, at the Provincial Capitol of San Fernando, La Union. The assessment kicked off with an opening program in which the Governor’s Cabinet welcomed the Regional
Assessment Team (RAT).
The SGLG is an institutionalized award, incentive, honor, and recognition-based program which aims to boost Local Government Units’ (LGU) commitment to continuously progress and improve their performance along various governance areas. In accordance with Republic Act 11292, which institutionalized the SGLG, the RAT validated and assessed the documents submitted in the ten
governance areas.
These areas included Financial Administration and Sustainability, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection and Sensitivity, Health Compliance and Responsiveness, Sustainable Education, Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Safety, Peace and Order, Environmental Management, Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts, Youth Development.
The RAT also conducted site visits to various offices and facilities of the PGLU. The activity concluded with an exit conference during which the RAT reported the results of their documents
review, interviews, and ocular visits. The Regional Assessment will determine if the PGLU qualifies as a potential shortlisted LGU for recommendation in the National Assessment. Governor “Rafy” OrtegaDavid encouraged everyone to learn from the findings of the Regional Assessment Team and
be inspired to do better.
