PGLU AND DEPED-LUSDO STRENGTHEN READING PROGRAMS TO IMPROVE LITERACY OF YOUNG LEARNERS

SAN FERNANDO, La Union

The Provincial
Government of La Union (PGLU) under the leadership of Governor Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, through the Provincial School Board (PSB), turned over textbooks and workbooks worth Php 17,971,186.50 to Department of Education La Union Schools Division Office as support to the DepEd-LUSDO reading program headed by Superintendent Jorge M. Reinante last May 23, 2023 at the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.

A total of 44,229 learning materials were donated to DepEd-LUSDO, 5,607 of which are Filipino textbooks, and 38,622 are erasable workbooks on reading, writing, mathematics, and science were donated to DepEd-LUSDO. Present during the turnover ceremony were Dr. Domingo L. Laud, Officer-inCharge, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Dominga N. Lim, President of the Non-Teaching Personnel, and Ms. Wevelyn H. Rimando, DepEd-LUSO Budget Officer to ensure the learning materials donated be provided and distributed to the school beneficiaries under LUSDO.

With these, the PGLU continues to uphold #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan through the development of the educational programs by partnering with DepEd in improving the quality of learning and pedagogy for our younger Kaprobinsiaan.
