PSA to make comprehensive IP count

This year’s Census of Population and Housing (CPH 2020) to be conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in September would include a comprehensive count for ethnicity, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples announced.
The PSA-NCIP partnership this September 2020 is the first of its kind to be piloted nationwide to obtain comprehensive information on the size (how many), composition (who) and distribution (where) of the indigenous peoples’ population per IP group from the local to the national level.
In an infographic post, the 2020 CPH defined ethnicity as the “sense of belonging to an ethnic group based on descent, blood relation and consanguinity.” It would also include a census on dis aggregated demographic, economic household and housing profile of the country’s IPs per IP group locally and nationally.
Aside from counting the population and housing from the respondents, the questions to be asked in the census are: Is he/she an Ilocano, Tagalog, Tingguian, Bontoc, Ibaloy, Kankanaey or what? And what is one’s ethnicity by descent, blood relation and consanguinity?
Be counted! Sama na! Census na! For more information, please contact the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Baguio City at the BIBAK/BIMAAK Hall along Harrison Road or call landline (074)309-8036; cp no. 0935-372-1497 or email: [email protected].
