Quarry operations sa Ilocos Norte, pinatigil ng DENR

LUNGSOD NG LAOAG – Pinatigil ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources ang lahat ng quarry operators sa pagkuha ng buhangin at graba sa Bolo River sa Ilocos Norte noong Mayo 16, 2018.
Sa inisyung cease and desist noong Mayo 13 ni Regional Director Carlos Tayag, officer-in-charge ng Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), ang 14 quarry operators sa kahabaan ng Bolo River na sumasakop sa munisipalidad ng Bangui, Dumalneg, Pagudpud ang nakitang nag-ooperate nang walang kaukulang permit mula sa DENR o mula sa provincial government ng Ilocos Norte.
Ayon kay Florante Nicolas, information officer ng Ilocos Norte Provicial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), na ang key officials ng DENR na pinangungunahan nina Regional Directors Reynulfo Juan, Ma. Victoria Abrea ng Environmental Management Bureau, Tayag ng MGB at Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Victor Dabalos, ang nagbigay ng utos sa pagpapahinto sa mga illegal quarry operators sa Bolo River.
Kinilala ni Nicolas ang mga quarry operator na sina Vice Mayor Francis Espiritu ng Dumalneg, Joy Soriano, Jovelyn Taggaoa, Florencio Dy, Denton Garvida, Analiza Garvida, Marino Faylogan, Praxedes Castillo, Joseph Castillo, Rajan Benemerito, Gensie Palima, Edimar Ubasa, Estrella Bacong at Joseph Acio mula sa munisipalidad ng Bangui, Dumalneg at Pagudpud.
Tulad ng nakasaad sa utos, ang mga nasabing tao ay binigyan ng 72 hours pagkatanggap ng order upang ipaliwanag kung bakit hindi sila dapat kasuhan ng pagnanakaw ng minerals.
