Red Cross, namahagi ng emergency tools sa Kalinga

LUNGSOD NG TABUK, KALINGA – Namahagi ang Philippine Red Cross ng mga emergency response equipment, first aid kits, at mga information materials sa anim na barangay at limang paaralan sa Tabuk City at bayan ng Pinukpuk sa probinsiya ng Kalinga, partikular sa mga lugar na calamity-prone.
“The equipment will allow our responders, even in the barangay and school level, to respond to different calamities,” ani Raymund Mario Chan, officer-in-charge ng PRC-Kalinga.
Aniya, ang layunin ay palaging zero casualty, at ang mga supplies na ibinigay ay tutulong upang makamit ang layuning ito.
Ang bawat pangkat ng recipient ay nakatanggap ng cervical collar, rubber boots, searchlights, megaphone, splints, shovel, pry bar, axe na may handle, transistor radio, whistles, first aid kits, wet weather raincoats, safety helmets, portable at foldable stretcher, plastic spine board, leather gloves, rescue ropes, at life vest.
“The packages were received by barangay officials and school representatives,” ani Chan.
Bago ang turn-over ng mga supplies, nagsagawa ang PRC-Kalinga ng mga serye ng disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) training sa 10 paaralan sa Tabuk at Pinukpuk noong Setyembre 11-24, sa pakikipagtulungan ng German Red Cross at ng German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.
Ang DRRM trainings ay isinagawa sa mga paaralang elementarya ng Socbot, Magsaysay, Calanan, Allaguia, Baclas, Lanna, Laya West, Cabaruan, Pinukpuk, at Pinukpuk Central School, ani Chan. Mayroong 325 participants na binubuo ng 136 lalaki at 189 babae.
Sinabi ni Chan na kabilang sa mga workshop ay ang Red Cross youth formation and orientation, at leadership and development activities upang itatag ang pakikilahok ng mga kabataan para maging ligtas ang kanilang komunidad. J. MAGUIYA, PNA / ABN
