Riding in tandem, nab for guns, ammo in Abra

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – A riding in tamdem carrying guns was intercepted by the alert policemen during the implementation of curfew hour in San Juan, Abra.
Reports received by Police BGen.R’win Pagkalinawan,regional director of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera,identified the arrested suspects as Nonoy Edaw Bag-ayan, 36,of Sitio Palpalitpit, Barangay Cayapa, Lagangilang, Abra and Lando Jaquias Batallia, 49, of Sitio Barbarsic, San Juan, Abra.
Pagkalinawan said, personnel of San Juan MPS led by Police Lt. Reynaldo Bonuan were conducting mobile patrol at 11:20 p.m of June 2 at Barangay Badas, San Juan, Abra when intercepted the suspects riding in tandem on a black Yamaha Mio 125 motorcycle, without plate number attached, driven by Bag-ayan with his back rider Batallia travelling in opposite direction.
During confrontation, the police notice a bulging item that resembles firearms from the waist of the driver and upon inspection, it turned out to be a caliber 9mm Berretta bearing serial number N020220Z, chamber loaded, inserted with magazine loaded with 12 live ammunition.
Extensive search was conducted which resulted to the recovery of a caliber 45 Shooters bearing serial number M07134518, chamber loaded, inserted with magazine loaded with 4 live ammunition from the possession of the back rider.
Bonuan asked for pertinent documents to possess said firearms but the suspects failed to present any.
They were brought to RHU San Juan, Abra for medical examination and later brought to San Juan MPS together with the confiscated pieces of evidence for documentation prior filing of appropriate charges against them.
