Rolling Stores Soon To Roll In Baguio City

BAGUIO CITY (March 20, 2020) – Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Friday said that a rolling stores will soon roll in all barangays here to alleviate quarantine-affected villagers problems their everyday consumer products needs.

The rolling store will visit twice a week in every barangay compliments by the big supermarkets in the city in cooperation with the office of Councilor Michael Lawana, chair of the Accociation of Barangay Captains.

Final arrangements are being done for the operation of rolling stores to cater to the 129 barangays covered by 12 districts

Each district with a cluster or 5 to 8 barangays will have one rolling store with corresponding product distributors to be assigned.

This can stem the emerging problem of villagers having to go out from their villages amid the quarantine situation to buy their needs that includes food up to the Baguio City public market at the Central Business District.

Since the ECQ, villager’s woes have been piling up especially on their food provisions with public utility vehicles restricted from plying their usual routes.

Most of the Baguio City’s 300, 000 population are also car or vehicle-less, not to mention the hilly to mountainous topography of the city making difficult even to go on foot to the Central Business District to buy food and necessities at the public market.

Inspections of the area and arrangements with product distributors are now being undertaken.
