SEC. GALVEZ LAUDS BAGUIO-CAR FOR STRONG VACCINATION EFFORTS

BAGUIO CITY – National Task Force Against COVID – 19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez praised the City of Baguio and the Cordillera Administrative Region(CAR) for their strong support to the Coronavirus Disease National Deployment and Vaccination Plan.
Galvez, in his message during the ceremonial vaccination of the pediatric population at SM City Baguio Basement 1 here Friday (Nov. 5), lauded CAR for having the second best accomplishment next to the National Capital Region in terms of vaccination, and the City of Baguio for leading Cordillera with the most number of eligible population vaccinated.
The Secretary also called for continuing partnership in pushing towards the achievement of herd immunity or in vaccinating at least 70 percent of country’s population by the year end so that the country can move forward towards recovery and bring back normal life for the people.
“Kami sa NTF against COVID 19 ay labis na natutuwa dahil sa patuloy na pagdami ng mga kabataan na nagpapabakuna laban sa COVID-19 sa buong bansa.”
“Kaya naman hindi titigil ang ating pamahalaang national at mga local na pamahalaan para sa pagpupursigi para mabakunahan ang mas marami nating mamamayan at mapabilis na maibalik sa normal ang ating pamumuhay,” Galvez stressed.
Department of Health- Cordillera Regional Director Dr. Ruby Constantino affirmed that the region’s vaccination program is moving at a good pace with Baguio City leading the way. As of Nov. 4 data, of the around 1.2 million target to be inoculated (70 percent of the 1.8 population in Cordillera), 46.54% already got their first jab and 40% are already fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile, Mayor Benjamin Magalong expressed gratitude to the NTF COVID – 19 through Secretary Galvez and to the DOH CAR for their strong support to the city government’s vaccination program and COVID – 19 response efforts.
Magalong also shared that as of Nov. 4 data, Baguio already vaccinated 88% of its eligible population with their first dose while 70.47% are already fully vaccinated.
