Sexagenarian,Lover Fall In Baguio Drug Raid

BAGUIO CITY – A sexagenarian woman, who earlier sold shabu to undercover National Bureau of Investigation-Cordillera (NBI) agents, together with her 52 year old lover, who also sold shabu to undercover operatives last week, were taken Thursday night after operatives found drug trade paraphernalia at the woman’s house along Ledesma St., East Modern Site barangay here.

NBI agents aided by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Baguio (PDEA-Baguio) agents and a Belgian Mallinois drug sniffing dog turned the maze-like multi-room two-storey house of Cely Concepcion Damasig upside down and seized carefully concealed items for drug trade and use like a miniature weighing scale, 2 rolls of aluminum foil, 4 glass pipes, one improvised burner, 2 pairs of surgical scissors, cutter blade, used plastic sachets with alleged shabu residue, butane burner, one caliber 45. bullet and another caliber 5.56 bullet, and a pair of tweezers.

All the seized items were found at a room temporarily occupied by 52 year old Romeo Ferrer Espino, a former Saudi OFW and an electrical contractor, who according to Damasig was temporarily occupying the room while the former is allegedly doing some house renovations for the latter.

The duo who both belied they are into drugs or involved in the drug trade, were charged with illegal drug use after both tested positive Friday, the NBI-Cordillera said.  Both will also face illegal drug paraphernalia possession for the seized drug trade and use items from the house including illegal possession of ammunitions after Damasig admitted owning the .45 caliber round and Espino the 5.56 round.

Thursday afternoon’s raid was sanctioned by Baguio City Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Mia Oallares Cawed, issuing the search warrant after she was convinced about the illegal trade ‘modus operandi’ of the duo after she was shown surveillance footages of the two selling shabu in the city on two different occasions.

Baguio Assistant City Prosecutor Oliver Prudencio administered the inventory of the seized items from the duo including two officials of East Modern Site barangay and a member of the media.
