SIN AGI, BEAG STARTS WITH BUYOG WATERSHED MURAL, CLOSES SCHOOL ART FEST

While one starts, another one closes

This was true with the Sin Agi Arts Group and the Baguio Educators Arts Guild who on Saturday started painting the second mural at Legarda Road, the Buyog Watershed mural, and the closing and contests of the more than one month Baguio Educational Arts Festival at the Baguio Center Mall. Councilor Leandro Yangot, Jr. led BEAG artists and student apprentice artists during the launching of the second Baguio Climate Action Wall at Legarda road at 7AM where they made the initial works and outlining of the nine by 50 feet mural which comes after the biking mobility mural at the walls between the Europa Condominiums and the Latter Day Saints Church.

It was a busy Saturday for the councilor named councilor artist of the year who later on went to the Baguio Center Mall for the painting and essay writing contests where Camille Erin Machiss took place for the latter with her Creativity of Baguio. Nichole Antonio took second place with her
Sunflower Valley, while Kirstein Ciriaco and Madison Tambo finished tied for third to complete the podium. In the essay writing contest, lonesome male participant Shai Rhys Randapan edged Baguio City National High School bet Sakura Alangui, daughter of artist Ged, to win.

Rhealyn Yossayos finished third place as the BEAF drew to a close. The event had its art workshops at the BCNHS starting in February 5 with the painting – acrylic and watercolor – dance, theater,
urban sketching, film making, singing, essay and fiction writing and mosaic arts. Facilitators included the older Alangui, Roger Federico, Luchie Maranan, LA Piluden, TJ Soriano, Glenn Gaerlan, Clint and Macush Taynan and the Mighty Bhutens of Oliver Olivete, Guiller Lagac and
Kabunyan de Guia, the youngest son of national artist Kidlat Tahimik.

Meanwhile, Yangot said that he is ready to start with the construction of the art gallery as he promised BCNHS Special Program in the Arts Coordinator Francis Lumiwes. “We will start with that after the Holy Week,” said Yangot, who flew to Geneva, Switzerland to join wife Cheryl and son
Leandro Lugat for the holidays. Yangot, during the Alpines art exhibit opening at the Manor at Camp Joh Hay assured that part of the proceeds of the sale of his works will go to the construction of the art gallery of the school, which hosted the BEAF workshops.
