SN ABOITIZ POWER-BENGUET, INC. TOPS BENGUET’S 1ST GONG AWARDS

SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet, Inc, emerged the No. 1 taxpayer (Province Category), besting 19 others in the First Benguet Gong Awards in Business Achievement and Yield (GABAY) recently held at Newtown Plaza Hotel here. Its sister company- Hedcor Luzon Hydro Inc. (Aboitiz Power) placed fourth taxpayer. GABAY (TO GROW in
Kankana-ey term) is a component of the Benguet Livelihood Summit, a major event in this year’s Adivay Festival.

These top taxpayers were evaluated on realty and business taxes they paid. ‘First of all, we would like to thank the Province of Benguet for concurring this award for SN Aboitiz Power, it’s quite surprise for us that we got the top award in this Gong Awards as it always (SN Aboitiz )is a very responsible corporate citizen… as we do always make a point to pay our taxes on time and full,’ said Engr. Hollis Fernandez, the company’s AVP/Plant Manager.

‘SN Aboitiz goes beyond these taxes, our comprehensive and voluntary corporate social responsibility (CSR) activitie is to ensure the development of our communities and also advancing business,’ Fernandez stressed. Actually, industries like power, mining, property, and retail trading are the top taxpayers in the province category. Other top taxpayers are – National Power Corp. (NAPOCOR), Philex Mining Corp.- Padcal Mine, Lepanto Consolidated Mining
Company, Tiong San La Trinidad, Itogon-Suyoc Resources, Inc., AlphaLand Baguio Mountain Log Homes, Inc., Benguet Corp – Balatoc Mines (Itogon), and Save more Supermarket.

“Itogon- Suyoc Resources, Inc. is honored to be among the Gong Awards in Business Achievement and Yield (GABAY) awardees this year as the Top 7 Taxpayer in the Province of Benguet. We are very proud that our efforts to

Governor Melchor Diclas acknowledged the awardees both in the province and municipalities
categories, respectively, being not only tax compliant but as top taxpayers which contribute to the growth and development of the province as well as in the country as a whole. Vice Governor Ericson ‘Tagel’ Felipe in his remarks invited other businesses to invest in the province such as manufacturing industries to generate local employment.

Provincial Board Member Marie Rose Fongwan-Kepes of the Committee on Trade gave the overview of the award, and also expressed her gratitude to awardees for their unwavering support in the progress of the province. The board member likewise encouraged the awardees to expand their business. She mentioned the province like in La Trinidad need for accommodation facilities to address the demand by both foreign and local tourists.
