SNAP aids host schools as new academic year amid COVID looms

Ten schools in Benguet, Ifugao, and Isabela received medical and school supplies from renewable energy solutions provider SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP) Group as they prepare for another schoolyear in the time of COVID-19.
SNAP-Magat, through assistant vice-president and plant manager Wilhelmino Ferrer and plant support services sr. manager Veronica Adsuara, distributed the aid package consisting of paper and ink supplies as well as alcohol, bleach, and face masks to six host schools on August 22 and August 24. The beneficiaries are Ambatali Elementary School, Villa Marcos Elementary School, and Gen. Aguinaldo Elementary School Main and Annex, all in Ramon, Isabela; and the main and annex branches of Sto. Domingo Elementary School in Alfonso Lista, Ifugao.
On August 27, SNAP-Benguet plant support services sr. manager Rose White and administration personnel Jerry Rio turned over alcohol, bleach, face masks, and back pack sprays to four host schools: Ambuklao Elementary School and the Ambuklao branch of Tublay School of Home Industries in Bokod, and Binga Elementary School and Binga National High School in Itogon. Ambuklao Elementary School also received a portable hand-washing sink.
Strict precautionary measures as mandated by the government and SNAP’s own company protocols were followed in all turnover activities.
The assistance is part of SNAP’s COVID response to host communities, specifically in support of its host schools’ modular distance learning program to keep basic education accessible even with the COVID-19 crisis. Set to formally start on October 5, the program involves teachers handing over printed modules to parents or guardians of students on certain day(s) a week.
Modules usually contain different activities and performance tasks for students. SNAP Group is a joint venture between SN Power of Norway and AboitizPower.
It supplies clean, renewable and dependable energy through the operation of the 105-megawatt (MW) Ambuklao hydro, and the 140-MW Binga hydro in the province of Benguet. SNAP also operates the 8.5- megawatt Maris hydro in Isabela, as well as the newly uprated 360- to 388-MW Magat hydro on the border of Isabela and Ifugao.
