Sumvac 2019 program of activities

BAGUIO CITY- After the lucky summer visitor and holy week activities, the scheduled Summer Vacation (SumVac) activities which includes religious, sports, culture and arts, and private events will go on throughout the months of May and June.
The day-long Pet One dog show was slated over the weekend on April 27 at the Melvin Jones Grandstand, as well as the Basic Resin workshop at the Pinecone Bed and Breakfast in South Drive.
In the morning of April 27, World War II survivors and other veterans commemorated the liberation of Baguio at the Veterans’ Park in Harrison Road with city officials.
On April 28-29, the Saint Louis University (SLU) Dance troupe will perform at the SLU Center for Culture and Arts.
The first Baguio City Robotics Cup Open 2019 will take place at the Mt. Province Mission Multi-purpose Hall in St. Joseph Village on April 28.
A grand Santacruzan with Reyna Elenas and consorts will converge and parade down Session Road on May 4, with a 2pm mass at the Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral.
A 100k run (Benguet Gold rush) at Camp John Hay takes place on May 11 and 12, with on-site registrations at 4pm on May 10.
Interested participants for the gold rush are urged to browse online for details and requirements.
Meanwhile, the Forest house assessment and training center hosted a summer arts and crafts workshop on April 23. A Summer Creatives will be ongoing up to June 2 at the Dominican Heritage Hill.
The SLU CCA will sponsor an orchestra concert on May 8. On May 25th will be the 9th Tam-awan International Arts Festival at the village; while the University of the Cordilleras will be hosting CordeMayo on the 27th up to the 31st.
Other events include: Chalk Arts Festival, Fitness Festival on June 9th; Freedom and Zumba marathon; Taraki Obstacle Race course challenge; and some private events in malls.
Birth anniversaries of famous Filipinos as well as Philippine historical events will be commemorated: Horacio dela Costa on May 9; Andres Bonifacio on May 10; Apolinario Mabini on May 13; Philippine-Australia Friendship day on May 22; Felipe Agoncillo on May 26; and National Flag Day celebration on May 8 to 12; all at the Baguio City National High School gymnasium.
