TACTILE TILES FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED PEDESTRIANS

Workers of the City Engineering Office (CEO) of Baguio City install tactile tiles or braille tiles along City Camp barangay road to help visually impaired pedestrians navigate their directions. Persons with visual impairment use a cane to feel the path in front of them.
The rough surface helps the blind individual find the right direction to their point of destination.
When cane touches these patterned tactile tiles, the bearer gets various types of information on how to navigate the way ahead. For blind people, these tactile tiles play a great role in their daily life.
