Two volunteers of Abra Gov shot dead

BANGUED, ABRA – Just a week after the filing of candidacies for the midterm polls, two volunteers of re-electionist Governor Ma. Jocelyn Bernos of Abra were killed Monday morning in the hometown of one of her political opponents for the gubernatorial post.
Rodel Talledo Pilor, 34, and one still unidentified companion, both volunteers of the lady governor, were on board a motorcycle when they were fired upon by unknown gunmen at around 9:15am of October 22 along barangay Kimmalaba, Dolores, Abra.
Police found several shells of caliber 5.56 Armalite assault rifles and gauge 12 shotgun where Pilor and his companion were ambushed.
Shocked, the lady governor immediately condemned the killing of her two volunteers saying, “for a long time the people of Abra had long much awaited for a peaceful community. I believe we have attained this through the help of the PNP and the AFP. Not until this incident though,” she said in detest.
Valera-Bernos called on the police to immediately get into the bottom of this and catch the perpetrators “so that justice be given to the family of the victims,” while adding, “I call my fellow Abrenios to be watchful, vigilant and responsible so that we can always have true peace in Abra.”
The lady governor, who is pitted against Dolores Mayor Roberto “JR” Seares Jr. said, “the people of Abra knows who are responsible for this.”  She however begged off to name names.
Mayor Seares Jr., PDP-Laban provincial chairman, while condemning the killing however argued, “let us see who these personalities are.”  They are hired goons, he claimed. Though the killing is unjustified, Mayor Seares Jr. said, “Pilor had been tagged in a number of cases but was able to bail himself out.”
The Dolores town mayor quoting from Dolores town policemen said the duo had gun holsters tucked with them though there were no firearms seized by authorities. “Ano rason bakit me holster. Bakit walang baril? That is a big question,” Mayor Seares Jr. said insinuating the killers might have confiscated the firearms “issued” to them. ACE ALEGRE
