VERNACULAR IDENTITIES: AN EXHIBITION OF WORKS FROM LUZON VISAYAS AND MINDANAO

Baguio City- Over 100 works from artists from all over the country were on display in multi venues the city in celebration of the 14th Tam awan International Arts Festival (TIAF) Chanum Foundation Inc. and Tam-Awan Village have staged multi venue exhibitions for the 14th Tam-awan International Arts Festival (TIAF 14) held in two of the Tam awan Village galleries, Campfolkswagen and SM City Baguio.

Exhibitions at the two galleries in Tam-Awan Village as well as in SM City Baguio are themed, “Vernacular Identities,” displays curated pieces which mirrors the many facets art of the three main islands of the country,
building an identity for artists and artisans to interpret through their works gathers masterpieces from Philippines in a group show The inter-island exhibition at SM City Baguio was opened by a cultural presentation by the the delegation of Bo-i Edmarie Inda and her sister Bo-i Edralyn of Datu Inda, President Roxas, Capiz and Frienzy Batingkay of Bulatukan, Makilala North Cotabato, championing the heritage of the Mindanao.

The East-Side Collective Exhibit at the partner café- gallery, Campfolkswagen pay homage to the iconic Volkswagen is displayed by artists, Acidhead, Angel PT, GA Castillo, Horhe Jacinto, Kamiru Otama, Patick Dotimas, Noel Tirona, Sayko Torres and Valor Betonio. The TIAF is an annual gathering of artists, artisans, culture bearers, educators and
enthusiasts from all over the country, converging at Tam-Awan Village for an exchange of art, culture and heritage.
The 14th TIAF is themed “Empowering the Artist through Community Galleries,” backed by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) held, October 3 to 6, 2024 which gathered 600 artists, artisans and culture bearers.

The festival aims to bring together a diverse range of artists to be able to connect and network regional groups to
galleries and studios and open opportunities for registered groups as well as to highlight the importance of the symbiotic relationship of artists and galleries.
