WORLD CAFE OPPORTUNITIES JOB FAIR SET ON AUGUST 23

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Baguio announced a job fair will be held on Aug 23 at the Baguio Convention Center. Romelda Frances,PESO Officer of Baguio told reporters during “Kapihan” that the White Cane Safety Month job fair is under the umbrella of the World Cafe of Opportunities and in coordination with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – Cordillera (TESDA-CAR).

Frances said this is to have vacancies for the qualified person with disabilities. And they partnered with Person with Disability Affairs Office headed by Mr. Sam Aquino to have sign language interpreters for the conduct of interviews to accommodate those individuals who have hearing impairments and have difficulties seeking jobs because of their unique characteristics.

She added that TESDA identified those priority sectors that need workers in accordance with the region’s requirements. These priority sections per the region’s required metrics are agriculture, retail, IT-BPM, Bpo, tourism, and construction. She also expressed that they will make sure most, if not all, of the invited local companies, will feature vacancies for those individuals who have disabilities that will fit their needs. The PESO official said some 25 local establishments and five carefully chosen overseas agencies by department of migrant workers are set to participate in the
upcoming job fair.
