WORLD ENVIRONMENT MONTH

Municipal and barangay officials and government employees of Bokod took part in a tree planting activity in communal forest reservations and along the highway in observation of the World Environment Month and Arbor Day this month of June.
The Bokod local government led by Mayor Thomas Wales Jr. spearheaded on June 4, 2021 the tree planting activity under the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office.
World Environment Day is observed every June 5 with this year’s theme, “Ecosystem restoration.”
Arbor Day is on June 25 of the 1,850 seedlings planted, 350 were fruit seedlings such as cacao and mango seedlings while the 1,500 varieties of forest tree seedlings were pine tree, fire tree, tibig, narra, acacia, and alnus planted in the Indian Communal Forest, Bobok-Bisal Communal Forest, and Kotkot-Kingis Communal Forest and also along Andres-Acop-Cosalan Road and Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya National Road as a fire mitigation strategy, a total of 482 maguey seedlings were also planted at the Seed Production Area (SPA) of the Watershed and Water Resources Research, Development and Extension Center in Bokod participants to the tree planting activity who were grouped and assigned to respective areas were Sangguniang Bayan members, Barangay officials, municipal employees, Bokod Municipal Police Station, Bureau of Fire Protection-Bokod, Benguet Environment and Natural Resources Office, and Community Environment and Natural Resources Office.
