World Environmental Health Day

Last Sept. 26, 2019, the World is celebrating Environmental Health Day. Philippines is having issues on different viruses nowadays and what is the real cause of this?

Well in my opinion, please do correct me if I’m wrong but Dengue, Leptospirosis, Polio, and Diphtheria is the uncleanliness of our Environment, the food we take and uncleanliness towards our Body. And that means we are “Dogyut” (iLocano term). And we are again going back to the attitude of “Mamaya na Habit” we are getting lazy again to go to a Doctor and take our Children for a Free Vaccination at the Public Health Center.

We are getting lazy again for cleaning our home, outside our house and participate on activities at our society not unless they will take picture and post it on Facebook with a caption “Clean and Green” w/ a hashtag I Care!. So plastic noh? Hehehe… What we want is letting the Silver Spoon be fed to us and worst we will chew and all you have to do is to swallow it.

Laziness will one day cause our death people if this will continue. This needs to stop! What is the better future ahead of us if we tolerate such kind of attitude? This World will not be a better place to live on with this hideous mentality that the Government will do something. Hey! Wake up!

What are you doing as a citizen of this Country too? Let us all do our part even in our own little way because if we put our efforts together then and only then this World will be a better place to live on.

Anyway, you might stop reading my columns if I nag so much so let’s just move forward. Environmental Health Day addresses all kind of physical, chemical and biological factors that can potentially affect our health.

All kinds of Viruses will surely occur if we will not address our Environmental Health like we might have the following:

  1. Diphtheria that manifest as either an upper respiratory tract or cutaneous infection and is caused by the aerobic gram-positive bacteria. Unclean place and playing or intake of food or water supply contaminated with human waste.
  2. Polio or infantile paralysis is an infectious disease caused by the Polio-virus. This occurs in areas with poor sanitation. The virus easily spreads from the feces of water supply and food. The two kinds of Disease are usually common for Children while the next two is not only known for Children but with adult as well.
  3. Dengue it is a mosquito borne bite virus which can cause death to one person if the immune body system is weak and that is why Department of Health always reminds us of the 4 o’clock habit meaning cleaning our surroundings and our home.Eating Go, Grow, Grew Foods, Proper Exercise, Drink 8 Glasses of water every day and proper sleep of 8hours a day.
  4. Leptospirosis is a disease that we got from contaminated with animal urine by contact on water, wet soil or plants. Surely all of these occur during when our surrounding is dirty. May we all take note and put on our mind that it is our duty too to be responsible residents to where ever we live. Start cleaning now for Cleanliness is next to Godliness.
