In a solemn ceremony, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) commemorated the 123rd anniversary of the appointment of Don Joaquin J. Ortega as the first Filipino Civil Governor of the province of La Union on August 15, 1901. The event took place in front of his statue at the Provincial Capitol Lobby, City of San Fernando, La Union, on
August 15, 2024, where wreath-laying ceremonies commenced to honor Don Joaquin Ortega’s significant contributions to the development of La Union.
