La Trinidad, Benguet(June 27, 2021)— Efforts and coordination of various law enforcement agencies bore fruits as another fourteen alleged NPA rebels voluntarily surrendered in Brgy Dao-angan, Boliney town in Abra last Thursday.
Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Oliver Lee even noted that two of the 14 surenderees were included in the Periodic Status Report on the Threat Groups (PSRTG).
The 14 also turned in their high-powered firearms: alias “Potinek”, 63, turned-over a 5.56mm bolt action rifle with defaced serial number; alias “Kabati”, 45, an M1 Carbine rifle with defaced serial number; alias “Ka Berto”, 58, a Cal. 7.62mm bolt action rifle; “Ka Aries”, 41, an M16 A1 rifle and one (1) long magazine; “Ka Vilma”, 48, a Cal. 45 pistol; “Ka Janeth”, 56, a (Cal. 45 pistol; “Ka Dina”, 46, a 9mm Ingram submachine gun and a magazine; “Ka Awi”, 36, a Cal. 45 pistol and its magazine; “Ka Ambo”, 66, an M16 Rifle and twenty (20) live ammunitions; “Ka Arthur”, 36, a (1) gauge 12 shotgun; “Ka Liwi”, 30, an Ingram submachine gun and its magazine; “Ka Rabas”, 50, an Elisco M16 A1 rifle and twenty (20) live ammunitions; “Jerome”, 62, a one Cal. 45 pistol; and “Ka Tabo”, 63, a Cal.7.62mm M1 Garand bolt action rifle.
All surrendered guns had defaced serial numbers, said Lee, while thanking local officials in barangay Dao-angan, Boliney for coordinating with the police and Philippine Army for the successful surrender.
The surrenderees are temporarily sheltered at the 144th SAC, 14th SAB, of tne PNP SAF in Abra at Camp Juan Villamor, in Bangued for documentation and debriefing.
Lee assured as the rebels return to the mainstream society, they will undergo processesses in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) to help them as they start new.
