350 welcomed for PMA plebehood

Fort Del Pilar, Baguio City (July 9, 2022)— Three hundred fifty young boys and girls composing the Philippine Military Academy class of 2026 were welcomed for plebehood Saturday here.

Officiating the oath taking rites at the hollowed ground of the premier military officer training institution in the country, PMA acting Superintendent Brig. General Julius Tomines said, today’s oath taking and reception rites “marks the long, challenging and fulfilling life of being a cadet”.
Considered ‘creme dela creme’ of today’s youth, from over 37,000 who applied to take the entrance examinations for the 2026 PMA class last year, only a little over 24,000 were qualified to actually take it and only 1,211 passed it.

Only 888 however reported to take medical and physical examinations and after rigids tests, 350 were finally taken in to compose the class of 2026.
Saturday’s reception rites also marks the start of a regimented military life and the gradual transformation from civilian into a professional and disciplined military leader, added BGen. Tomines.
Relatives and family of the plebes witnessed the rites as PMA already opened ita doors to visitors and tourists alike though minimum health protocols against COVID-19 were still imposed.
