Municipal Mayor Romeo Salda headed the official opening of the 4th Farmers and Fisherfolks’ Month Celebration with the theme, “Farmers: The Foundation of Food Security,” through a ribbon-cutting and ecumenical service at the Municipal Gym on May 20, 2025. The event featured the launching of the La Trinidad Pandakoän Program, where farmers could directly sell their products to the public. Among the products showcased were vegetable seeds, Arabica coffee beans, cacao coffee, mangoes, avocado, passion fruit, organic produce, rice, and farming supplies and materials.
Moreover, Barangays, Beckel, Puguis, Shilan, Bahong, Lubas, and Wangal participated in the Folk Media Competition, where performers utilized the theme, “Biag Shi Uma”. Alongside this, a total of 54 entries were submitted for the “Search for the Pinakamabigat” vegetables
from the 16 barangays of the valley. These consisted of tomatoes, chayote, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, Iceberg and Romaine lettuce, cabbage, womboc, and squash. Nida Organo, Municipal Agriculturist, explained that the Folk Media Competition served as an avenue for the farmers to practice their creativity and boost their confidence.
