A GREENER TOMORROW: DELTANS TREE PLANTING ACTIVITY

Clouds and rain can’t stop and won’t stop the DELTANS Inc. Zigzag Base from doing our duty to Mother Earth. Last Saturday, September 7, 2024, the Zigzag Base of the Disaster Environment Land Traffic Assistance Network Systems (DELTANS Inc.) held a tree planting activity at the Voice of America, Camp John Hay. The DELTANS Inc. collaborated with Forester Richerlyn Mino and Chris Haban of the John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) to make this environmental project happen.

With the help of some security guards and some alumni of Magsaysay Elementary School who came with Sir Rolly 989 Mejia, we were able to plant 500 coffee trees and Maguey plants to create a Green Belt. The Green Belt is meant to prevent forest fires from spreading to a greater area. This yearly activity is part of the group’s environmental initiative. This occurs in the month of September as a celebration of Baguio Day, which falls on September 1. We don’t plan on ending with just one tree planting event. We want to continue doing our duty in making the world a better place one project at a time.

Aside from environmental pursuits, DELTANS Inc., also has numerous humanitarian and philanthropic ventures. During Holy Week and summer vacation– when tourist and car activity is at an all-time high we act as motorist assistance. We also visit underprivileged places, like orphanages and faraway schools, to offer any help we can give. And with our basic life support (BLS) and standard first aid (SFA) training, we’re responders during calamities and disasters. DELTANS Inc. is a volunteer and communications radio group dedicating its time, effort, and resources in helping those in need.
