Abra extends ECQ until September 17

BAGUIO CITY(September 7, 2021)— Abra governor Ma. Jocelyn Bernos in Executive Order 21 Series of 2021 declared the extension of the localized enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) imposed to barangays in the province.
The said prolonged ECQ status starts September 8, 2021 until September 17, 2021.
This came after Abra continue to register rising number of COVID-19 infections.
“Whereas, as of 11:00 PM of Seprember 5, 2021, the province reached a new high of 135 confirmed Covid 19  now distributed in 24 out of 27 municipalities, a total of 48 Covid 19-related deaths, and total reported Covid-19 cases at 2,239,” Bernos cited.
Abra also already has a Delta Variant case as confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH) Cordillera.
The lady governor stressed the importance of declaring stricter measures like ECQ to prevent the further spread of the virus amidst the presence of new and deadlier variants.
Bernos argued that even if the national Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) earlier placed Abra under General Community Quarantine (GCQ), the provincial government has the authority to declare ECQ in accordance to the rela situation on the ground that permits such declaration of ECQ.
Bernos said that the provisions on travel protocols, protocols for triage units, access points, testing and quarantine, and other guidelines in relation to the imposition of ECQ will go on.  She also said that municipal mayors shall impose timely granular lockdowns and stricter quarantine guidelines if needed.
