Abra’s aggressive testing posts 1.7% positivity rate

The ongoing aggressive community testing (ACT) for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the province of Abra that started on May 23 has posted a 1.7 percent positivity rate based on the result of the samples obtained in the first two days of the activity.
Based on the report of the Regional Task Force Covid-19 on Tuesday, there were 1,885 who were swabbed on May 23
and 24 in the town of La Paz.
Out of the number of swab samples subjected to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing, there were 33 that came out positive for Covid-19 while 1,852 yielded negative results.
Governor Joy Bernos and Mayor Menchie Bernos led the participants in the aggressive community testing held at Poblacion and Bulbulala La Paz town. La Paz town targeted 2,957 participants.
The result of the 754 who were swabbed on May 25 at the town of Manabo has yet to be released.
The aggressive community testing that runs until May 28 is being conducted by the National Task Force Against Covid-19 through the Bases Conversion and Development Authority with the provincial government of Abra.
Bernos said those who were tested were ordered to go on quarantine pending the release of the result.
She said that the provincial government’s request for the conduct of aggressive testing is to allow the province to locate the carriers of the virus and prevent its spread to those they get in contact with.
As of May 25, Abra has recorded a total of 641 cases since March 2020. It was the first province in the region where Covid-19 was confirmed on the second week of March 2020 involving an overseas Filipino worker.
There are currently 109 active Covid-19 cases and 21 deaths in the province.
