BAGUIO CITY

Some 100 young booters received training from two Tottenham Hotspur FC Ladies last Saturday at the Baguio athletic bowl. The AIA (formerly Phil-Am Life) two day training had Shannon Moloney and Lily Jervis who now conduct clinics around Asia. “Great place, great kids,” cried Moloney who got assistance from local coaches in the Healthiest Schools Football Clinic hosted by AIA. The two-day football clinic focused on skills development and overall health and well-being. “We are truly grateful for this opportunity. It’s a rare chance for us to learn from a European football brand and share it with our players,” said Gatan Dalang, a former Ateneo de Manila University football
player and local coach.

“This is the first time such an event has come to our country, and we feel blessed that Baguio was chosen.” Nestor Udan, another
prominent local coach, echoed Dalang’s sentiments, adding, “This is a first for us, and it’s something we’ll always treasure. The knowledge and experience shared by the European coaches will go a long way in improving our local football scene.” Coach Dave Fiangaan, visibly excited, also expressed his gratitude: “We’re all so enthusiastic about what we’ve learned here, and this moment will stay with us forever.”
Kay Wing, AIA’s Director of Brand Marketing, said that the Healthiest Schools Football Clinic will soon be rolled out in various regions across the country.

The program is a collaboration with the Department of Education to reach more public schools. “Baguio is just the first leg of this nationwide program. We aim to bring these football clinics to students in different areas, promoting health and sports in schools,” said Wong. Moloney and Jervis based in Hong Kong, who spent the first day imparting their expertise to the local coaches. Last Saturday, during the second day, they worked closely with the students, delivering intense yet highly informative training sessions that left everyone eager for more.
