Administration-backed senatorial candidates belonging to Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas are prepared to address the congestion and environmental issues that continue to hound Baguio City while eyeing to preserve its tourism viability. Alyansa is composed of former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, Senator Ramon Bong Revilla, Senator Pia Cayetano, former Senator
Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, Senator Lito Lapid, Senator Imee Marcos, former Senator Manny Pacquiao, former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Senator Francis “Tol” Tolentino, ACT-CIS Representative and former Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo, and Deputy Speaker
Camille Villar.
“It is important to find a balance between tourism development and the preservation of the quality of life for local residents,” said Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco, Alyansa’s campaign manager. In light of this, the coalition is proposing a comprehensive approach to addressing the summer capital’s transportation challenges. These will include traffic congestion reduction and the improvement of resident and visitor mobility. “We need to find solutions befitting the premier stature of Baguio City such as smart mobility solutions integrated into the existing and new infrastructure,” Tiangco explained.
The modernization of public transportation systems, smarter urban planning, and tourism flow management are among the coalition’s
considerations. “The slate is also looking into finding the right balance that benefits local businesses while preserving what makes Baguio special,” Tiangco said. Water and waste management infrastructure improvements are also high on Alyansa’s agenda for Baguio, as well as support measures that enhance Baguio’s education system, healthcare facilities, and employment opportunities.
Pledging to work closely with local officials and community representatives, Alyansa candidates will ensure national programs align with
Baguio’s development goals. “Because Baguio’s challenges require thoughtful, collaborative solutions, our senatorial candidates are
prepared to offer the best ideas from both national and local perspectives,” Tiangco said.
