Cops nab 3rd most wanted in Region 1
CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – The third most wanted person in Region 1 was arrested by joint police operatives in
his hiding place in Barangay San Carlos, Binangonan, Rizal, police reported here yesterday. Arrested was Richard Curammeng, 52, a resident of Poblacion 2, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte who was charged for rape. Col. Julius Suriben, Ilocos Norte police director, told The STAR that Curammeng was arrested based on arrest warrant issued by Judge Felix Salavador of the Regional Trial Court Branch 19 in Bangui, Ilocos Norte on November 21, 2019. Suriben also reported that his men has nabbed Jeffrey Guzman, 41, of Pagsanahan Sur, Badoc Ilocos Norte, who was
charged for murder on May 9, 2019.
He said Guzman is a member of a notorious gun-for- group in the province. “Suspect has been under surveillance for several months until his arrest. In the midst of COVID 19 crisis, the Ilocos Norte police continues its unrelenting effort to go after criminals and bring them before the bars of justice,” Suriben said.
Ilocos Norte police gives P153K, slippers for earthquake victims
SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Ilocos Norte police provincial office led by Col. Julius Suriben turned over Sunday to the Abra police P153,000 funds and 50 pairs of slippers to help victims of earthquake in Abra province.
Suriben told The STAR that they raised the funds through the “Riding as 1 Ilokandia” project which was participated in by 27 groups of newly organized motorcycle riders in Ilocos Norte headed by Louie Bonifacio. Suriben said policemen in Ilocos Norte gathered P100,000 while the riders shared P53,000 and the slippers. “This is just a little help which we can share to our neighbor who were affected by the earthquake. This is our spirit of bayanihan,” Suriben said.
He said they started the “ride for a cause” in Camp Valentin Juan in Laoag City, crosses over Ilocos Sur, and touch down at Bangued, Abra. Abra was hit by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake on July 27 along with the province of Ilocos Sur. Abra was declared under a state of calamity with damages of around P600 million, mostly on infrastructures.
