Kalinga shooting leaves one dead, one critical

A dental technician was killed while another is in critical condition after they were fired at by a still unidentified shooter inside a restobar in Tabuk, Kalinga early morning of Thursday. Police report identified the fatality as Joegie Valera Cabicungan, 37 years of age, married, a dental technician and a resident Purok 3, Barangay Bulanao here. Police said the other victim, who is also a dental technician, was Orland Dave Pascual, known as Sadam, of legal age, single, male and presently residing at Sitio Baligatan, Purok 6 of the same barangay. Pascual, police said, remains unconscious of the morning of September 8.

The shooting took place at around 12:45 AM of said date. Police report indicated that the victims were drinking inside the restobar where the unidentified suspect was also drinking and was sitting at a nearby table. The gunman suddenly stood up and went towards the table of Pascual and Cabicungan and shot them several times. After the shooting, the suspect fled to an unknown direction. The victims were already brought to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital when police arrived.

64 wanted persons naaresto sa manhunt operations sa Cordillera

CAMP DANGWA,Benguet – Arestado ang animnapu’t apat na indibidwal na pinaghahanap ng batas sa isang linggong pinaigting na manhunt operation na isinagawa ng Police Regional Office-Cordillera mula Agosto 28 hanggang Setyembre 3. Batay sa tala ng Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), naitala ng Baguio City Police Office ang pinakamataas na bilang ng mga naaresto na may 20 wanted person, na sinundan ng Benguet PPO na may 19 na arestuhin; Ifugao PPO na may siyam na arestado; Abra PPO na may pitong naaresto; Apayao PPO na may apat na naaresto; Mt. Province PPO na may tatlong inaresto at Kalinga PPO na may dalawang inaresto.

Binigyang-diin ang manhunt operation nitong linggong ito ay ang pag-aresto sa suspek na si Arnold Baggaan na nakalista bilang No. 4 Most Wanted Person sa Regional Level. Si Baggaan ay inaresto ng mga operatiba ng Kalinga PPO sa bisa ng Warrant of Arrest para sa krimeng Panggagahasa. Isa pang highlight ay ang pagsasagawa ng one-time bigtime (OTBT) operation ng PROCOR noong Agosto 30 na
nagresulta sa pagkakaaresto sa 56 na indibidwal na wanted ng batas.
