APPROVED NEW WATER SYSTEM PROJECT SET TO ENHANCE WATER ACCESS IN LAGAWE

The Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Scale-Up, through its Project Support Office (PSO) North Luzon, has given the green light for the proposed construction of Lagawe Water System in Lagawe, Ifugao. With the issuance of No Objection Letter (NOL) 1, the Provincial Government of Ifugao can now initiate the bidding process for the subproject, marking a significant step toward improved water access in the municipality. The Php96.73-million subproject aims to provide reliable water access to five barangays: Poblacion East, Poblacion North, Poblacion West, Poblacion South, and Tungngod.

Once completed, the project is expected to benefit 248 community households and 579 institutional users, including
schools and government offices, through the installation of new communal tap stands. Preliminary activities are
scheduled to begin in January 2025. These will include orientation sessions for the Provincial Government of Ifugao on the World Bank Harmonized Procurement Guidelines and the drafting of the Implementation Management Agreement (IMA). The IMA will outline specific implementation arrangements for the PRDP funded subproject, including timelines for fund releases and requirements for liquidation reports. These measures aim to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the implementation process. This initiative highlights the DA-PRDP Scale-Up’s commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for communities in rural areas.
