BAGUIO CITY – City Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda, through a resolution, is urging all concerned offices to assist and support the barangays in the titling of all identified lands to be used for barangay needs.
The resolution is enjoining the City Planning and Development Office, Assessor ’s Office, General Services Office, City Engineering Office, City Buildings and Architecture Office, DENR, and other concerned offices to give necessary assistance to the barangays in order to protect identified lands for barangay needs from future adversity.
Tabanda underscored that the implementation of barangay projects such as the construction of government facilities requires land identification for barangay needs.
“The process of land identification involves concerned offices which will determine if the land identified is public or a portion of a public land is free from any claims, and is suitable for the purpose of the structure or facility,” Tabanda explained.
The resolution mentioned Section 234 of the Local Government Code of 1991 which provides for the exemption of real property owned by the government including lands titled in the name of the barangay from Real Property Tax.
