BAGUIO CITY LAD TOPS CPA BOARD EXAMS

A son of a taxi cab driver in Baguio City topped the Licensure Examination for Certified Public Accountants (CPA) this year. Alexander Salvador Centino Bandiola Jr., 23, has garnered a percentage rating of 85.50, the highest among 2,239 takers of the board examinations las May 23
according to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). Bandiola Jr., from City Camp Central Barangay here, is an alumnus of the University of the Cordillera (UC), formerly Baguio Colleges Foundation (BCF).

His father, Alex Sr. said, they are so proud of his youngest son’s feat, ‘that despite of their economic
status, his son strived and was able to be on the top’. The older Bandiola said Alex Jr., is always reading his books and studied hard in preparation for the examinations. ”Mabait po anak ko walang bisyo bihira lumabas ng kwarto nya Palagi nagbabasa ng books,” he offered. The topnotcher was a consistent honor student since his pre-school, beamed Alex Sr. He even graduated Summa cum laude at the University of the Cordilleras, the very proud father bared of his son, whom Alex Sr. described as “a very timid boy” who mostly shy away from limelight.

“Congratulations for bringing honor to his school and the city. Baguio is proud of him for the achievement,” Baguio City mayor Benjamin Magalong hailed. Placing 7th in the same board licensure examinations is another Baguio City pride, Neftali Blaze Guevarra Suarez (88.17%) from
Saint Louis University. From burning the midnight oil to soaring above the rest, (Suarez) has emerged as one of the topnotchers, said the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – Saint Louis University Chapter in its official statement.

“This achievement is a testament to the power of dreams, the pursuit of excellence, and the support of her loved ones,” it added. The PRC feted the top performing school – the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman — with 55 out of 59 (93.22%) passing the examinations.
