BAGUIO CITY (February 24, 2021) – The famous Baguio night market at Harrison Road will resume operations again Wednesday night after the Baguio City government through a task force approved its reopening.
The night market was first closed during the start of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) imposed on the entire Luzon Island March last year.
It was allowed to re-open on December 1, 2020, coinciding with the opening of the Baguio Christmas revelries and lights up at Session Road but was shut down by Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong because of apparent breaches in health and safety protocols including the rule on physical distancing.
But again on December 11, night market vendors were again allowed to sell their wares that time imposing stricter regulations and tighter security measures, but
the night market was again closed as the whole Cordillera Region was placed again under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) status starting February 1, 2021.
As the nigt market re-opens on Wednesday night, 352 stalls were allowed (304 for dry goods or “wagwag or ukay” and 48 for food).
Originally, over 1,000 stalls were allowed along the stretch of Harrison Road from 8PM onwards.
